Mofokeng Crowned Orlando Pirates Player of the Month for May

Relebohile Mofokeng has added another accolade to his remarkable season by claiming the Orlando Pirates Player of the Month award for May, as chosen by the fans.

The 21-year-old played a crucial role in a highly successful campaign for the Buccaneers, helping the team secure two domestic cup trophies while also playing a key part in delivering the Betway Premiership title. He remained consistent right through to the final stages of the league season, leading the squad in chances created during May.

This latest honor marks Mofokeng's fourth Orlando Pirates Player of the Month award of the recently concluded season, having previously won it in December, February, and March.

Affectionately known as "President yama-2000," Mofokeng edged out strong competition from his teammates by securing 18% of the vote. He was closely followed by Kamogelo Sebelebele with 17% and Patrick Maswanganyi with 16%. Defender Lebone Seema and April winner Oswin Appollis each received 15%, highlighting the collective strength that delivered another famous treble for the Soweto giants.

A fresh opportunity to shine now awaits Mofokeng, who will join eight of his Pirates teammates in representing South Africa at the FIFA World Cup. Bafana Bafana kick off their campaign against co-hosts Mexico on Thursday, with the highly anticipated match scheduled to start at 21:00 (SAST).
